Hi Wendy, There was a James Qualter on the 1855 Griffith's Valuation of Co.
Galway in Tonagarraun townland, civil parish Annaghdown. No other
occupants. May be related? In any event, a good location to carefully
check for your family as may be misspelled. As you may know, Qualter
surname is sometimes found as McQualter, but not necessarily the case with
your fellow.

Anyone checking LDS records, be aware that you should check with/without a
space after the "prefix" - i.e., McQualter and
Mc Qualter, with a space, as well as Qualter.
