Hi Jean,

Actually, that is my Hannah Lapham in the Fall River Census of
1880. By 1871 she is a widow in Cardiff, Wales. How she came
to be in Fall River, I have no idea. Fall River was a great place for
the textile industry and most of my relatives were weavers from
Lancashire. Mary Ann Keefe Nicholls is also in Fall River, but
that is a decade or so after Hannah and her family arrive there.
Ann M. Nicholls (Mary Ann's daughter) arrives in Fall River
sometime in the 1870's; she does work in the cotton industry.
I have always assumed that she went there because the
Lapham's were there and she could easily find work there.

Two of the Lapham sons listed seaman as occupation so maybe
they somehow landed in Fall River and the rest of the family
came there.

I was hoping to find some Keefe's or Lapham's who recognized this family
and might know part of their story and know where in Ireland the Keefe's
originated.

Thank you for all your help,
Ann
