Dear Pat, I do not have your original inquiry about Thomas Ganley. But in the
book, Stones Of Aran, by Tim Robinson, there is a great deal about Thomas'
involvement with the assault on the bailiff. PP. 176-177
It happened in 1881 and Bryan Kilmartin went to jail for life in 1882 for the
crime. He was released in 1884 by the British government when Thomas Ganley
confessed on his deathbed that he had done it. I have about 450-500 pages
from the Irish Historical Museum about the trial, imprisonment, release &
appeal. Thomas Ganley confessed to a Fr. Curran in Boston and died
immediately. Fr. Curran was interviewed by the British government and the
Archdiocese of Boston had to show a death certificate for Thomas before they
would release Bryan. Bryan Kilmartin was my g-grandfather. Does this fill in
any empty spaces?
