Rosemary:
Thanks for your update 27 APR update on the Flaherty's
in Woburn.
It appears that 17 Highland Street and Richardson Street
in Woburn were popular boarding places for the persons
from Inisheer.
Martin Flaherty, my wife Mary's Grandfather, listed
7 Richardson Street in Woburn on his Marriage Certificate
dated 28 NOV 1900, his age was listed as 30.
Martin's brother Thomas Flaherty, age 24, was also living
in Woburn at that time. Sooo, I assume that the Martin
Flaherty and Thomas Flaherty boarding with James & Mary
Curran on Richardson St., are the same persons!!!
Do you agree?
We are slowly getting some more Flaherty pieces together.
Good work and stay in touch,
God Bless,
Jake

Subject: Re: Re:: [Irl-Aran-Islands] Boston Pass List - May 1899
To make it all a little more confusing -
I think the John Griffin #13 in the passenger list could be the son of
Patrick Griffin and Anne Flaherty of Inisheer making him the nephew of John
Griffin (John), Monica Griffin (Rosemary) and Martin Griffin (Ray). He is
also listed as going to 17 Highland St. so it may be possible that the
Flahertys going there also are related to his mother.
In the 1900 census in on Richardson St. in Woburn,MA; John Griffin is a
boarder with Martin Joyce and his wife Mary and their nephew Martin Joyce.
John is listed as coming to the U.S. in 1899 and is 21 years old.
At Mary Flaherty Connolly's funeral in Lowell in 1917, John Griffin of
Woburn is listed as a bearer. Mary Flaherty's mother was Monica Griffin.
In the 1920 census on Richardson St. in Woburn, Martin Joyce (from the Aran
Islands in his obit.)and his wife Bridget O'Donnell (from Inishmaan) have 4
children and have an adopted son Henry Tierney. They also have Colman
McDonough age 29 boarding with them.
In the 1920 census in Somerville, MA; Minnie, Kate, Delia(Bridget), and
Patrick Griffin have boarders Patrick Joyce, Mary Joyce, Mary Conroy and
their 9 year old cousin Anthony Tierney.
I believe there is a strong connection with the Griffin, Joyce and Tierney
families. Also as there was a Martin Flaherty of Woburn as a bearer at John
Griffin's funeral in Lowell in 1909, there may be a connection through Anne
Flaherty who married Patrick Griffin on Inisheer.
Also in the 1900 census on Richardson St. in Woburn, I found a Martin
Flaherty and Thomas Flaherty boarding with James and Mary Curran on
Richardson St. The numbers are hard to read but looks like Martin is age 26
or 36.
Hope this makes some sense !
