Hello,

I am new to the list and have been searching in Ireland for several
years for evidence of the family of my gggrandfather, Samuel Rawlins.
With the new British Newspaper Archive online, I found an interesting
article in Belfast, 27 Dec. 1858. This article mentioned Samuel
Rawlins, described as a "lad" who worked for a local pawnbroker. My
gggrandfather would have been about 19 at the time that the article was
written.

Samuel Rawlins' father, also a Samuel Rawlins, was a watch finisher who
traveled back and forth between England and Ireland. My ancestor left
Ireland in 1867 for the US. We have found only a trace of these people
in England...(a baptismal record and passenger records) and very little
in Ireland.

I would like to see if I can find any more about Rawlins families that
could have been living in Belfast at the time that this article was
written. I wonder if anyone can direct me to City Directories from the
time period or any other resource that might be available. I have
checked the IFHF records. I continue to recheck all leads.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
