Subject: [CARLOW] Looking for Brophy kin
Date: Sun, 9 Apr 2000 21:25:19 -0400 (EDT)
Hello, all. I'm new to the list and wonder if any of us are researching the
same lines. My g-g-grandparents were John Brophy and Joanna (or Judith)
Keating of County Carlow. They had at least one daughter in Ireland,
Anastatia, then emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in the late 1820s. They
had 9 children there, and some of those children then immigrated to Boston
where we still live today.
Three other Brophy families from Carlow emigrated to Halifax about the same
time, and I believe they're probably siblings but haven't yet proved it yet.
They are James Brophy and Anastatia O'Brien, Michael Brophy and Ellen
McSweeny, and Patrick Keating and Bridget Brophy.
Are any of these names familiar to any of you? I have a family data on all
these lines after they moved to Halifax, but none before, and would love to
share info.
Any help you could give would be deeply appreciated.
Regards to all,
Donna Stevens
