Jimmy O'Toole wrote "The Carlow Gentry: What Would the Neighbours Say!" in
1993. There is a chapter of 16 pages on Duckett of Duckett's Grove. Have
you seen it? Jimmy O'Toole just published a book on famous people whose
roots are in Carlow (Walt Disney's family, etc.). I don't seem to be able to
put my hand my copy. Your Duckett line might be mentioned there too.
Mrs. Duckett of Ducketts Grove is mentioned in one paragraph of Mark
Bence-Jones 1987 book, "Twilight of the Ascendancy."
"People who no longer wished to take part in the Castle season still came up
to Dublin for private entertainments such as the bal poudre' given earlier in
1912 by Mrs. Duckett of Duckett's Grove for her daughter. Mrs. Duckett was
unusual among the country gentry in possessing a Dublin house, to which she
had recently added a 'spacious ballroom of octagonal form'; this, for the
ball, was 'profusely decorated with white lillies, azaleas and standard
Dorothy Perkins rose trees.'
I hope this is of some assistance.
