I would like to hear from anyone who might have family history of the
Thomas Harris and Margaret Payne(Paine) family who came to Ireland about
1819 to live in County Carlow and be with Margaret's mother Mrs. Payne.
Margaret's father was a brother to Thomas Payne, author of Common Sense.

Thomas and Margaret left Ireland for Canada and U.S. in 1839-40, but
left two grown children in County Carlow.
1. Sally Harris, m. a Mr. Thomas 1832 in County Carlow. She born 1810
in England. She had a number of children. One we know of was born in
1837 as the child was then one when her family left to come to Canada.
She lived in a town called Crombullstim in Carlow. I don't know if this
is correct or not.
The Harris lived first on the Payne estate or what was left of it. I
think it then was known as Harris House or Manor. It was a very old
brick manor house and at the time in late 1700's and early 1800's it had
all its windows on the first floor bricked up except for holes to which
they could look out or have protection in times of fighting. This all
coming down from words written in the family.
A brother to Sally was George Harris, who remained in Ireland and was a
minister in Carlow County or surrounding counties. He traveled some in
early days of 1830's, but came back always to live in Ireland. I don't
know if he married. He came to Wisconsin in 1860 on a visit to Ripon to
visit family.
If anyone makes any connection with these names I would appreciate a
note.
Thank You so much,
Michael and Norma Trump
