Subject: [IRL-CARLOW] 1901 CENSUS - 100 Year Anniversary - volunteers needed
Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2001 15:14:44 -0700
Happy 100th anniversary of the
1901 Census of Ireland!
To celebrate, volunteers have been transfering data of the Civil
Parish of
Kilgeever, Murrisk, Mayo from xerox copies to EXCEL, digital
format, for installation in a website later this year.
There are about 200 inhabited townlands with a
typical population for about 40 people, as well
as larger townlands (such as Louisburgh) with census blocks of
about 200
people.
Addition volunteers are needed.
To volunteer,
DO NOT REPLY TO THE LIST
place
KILGEEVER CENSUS
in the subject line of your e-mail.
Then cut and paste the following information
into the body of the e-mail:

A Census packet will be snail mailed to you.
Watch for an e-mail labeled:
THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING.
It will contain census instructions for your
level of EXCEL proficiency (yes, you must own, or have access, to
EXCEL to
participate) and an attachment copy of the census format the we
are using.
You will have three weeks (from the time that you recieve your
packet) to
complete the data entry and e-mail it back to .
This will not cost you anything. All the cash needed for this
project has
already been raised, the copies are ready to be mailed to you.
You will have technical support---just an e-mail away.
You will be contributing to making Irish Census
data free, to all, forever.
You will become a part of history.
