Marilyn,

Ballon is about 10 or 12 miles right down the N 80 road from Carlow to
Bunclody. It's also about 5 miles nearly due south of Tullow. Ballon has
too many houses to be shown separately on Discovery map 61, but it appears
that there could be more than 20 or 30 houses/shops, etc. in the central area
of the town (it is classified as both a town and a townland. There is a
school, at least one church still in use (and an apparent old parish church
ruin) and a postoffice in the town.
