I'm searching Hackett/Doyle - New Orleans, Louisiana. On the baptismal certificates of 2 family members from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Orleans, LA, the officiating priest is Rev. James W. Doyle. I personally have not made a family connection, but am curious. The Rev. Doyle has been found in the Orleans death index of 1878. He was 40 years old putting his birth year at Abt 1838. New Orleans suffered with yellow fever in 1878 and many people were stricken. His place of birth is unknown, however my family members state that they are from County Carlow, Ireland. I have not been able to find any information on the Rev. Doyle and when I came across your posting, I thought that maybe you would have an idea...

Through online research I have read other articles in reference to the Bishop, but your posting is the first I find in the genealogy postings; I find it interesting! If this interests you, I am willing to do some research in the New Orleans area...
