Subject: [IRL-CARLOW] DARCY FAMILY OF CARLOW
Date: 4 Aug 2001 05:12:59 -0600
This is in addition to my November 2000 submission:
1. Murtagh Darcy was born in the townland of Rathneeragh in the Civil Parish of Fenagh, County Carlow.
2. The TAB for Fenagh, which was finished in May, 1826, shows three tenants with the surname DARCY living in the townland of Rathneeragh: (1) Richard DARCY (23 acres); (2) Lawrence DARCY (23 acres) and (3) James DARCY (19 acres). Murtagh Darcy's eldest son was named "Richard", and his next to youngest son was named "Lawrence."
3. Roman Catholic parish records for Fenagh exist at the National Library in Dublin, and according to the Carlow History Centre, are open to the public. (CHC does not have records going back to 1826).
I am still interested in locating info on Murtagh DARCY's ancestors, brothers and sisters in Carlow.
