Well, I can't give you any info on your line. But my Byrnes are from
mid-1800s Leighlinbridge too, so I'd be interested to see if we connect.
From what I gather, Leighlinbridge wasn't a very populated area of Carlow.

My great-grandfather, Michael Byrne, was born in Leighlinbridge or Tullow
in 1872, I think. I do not know what church he was baptized in. His father
was Henry Byrne (married Catherine Redmond), was born in Leighlinbridge
(1830s?), possibly son of Sylvester Byrne.

Subject: [IRL-CARLOW] Brennan, Byrne, Bagenalstown or Leighlinbridge

Hello List,
I have never got anywhere with my Carlow family due to lack of access to any
records; even five minutes in the 1911 census would answer a lot of
longstanding questions.
I hope someone can help with a simple question(s). I shall give the whole
history in the hope someone may spot a link or know something of this
family.
My Byrne ancester Daniel (son of Edward) from Bagenalstown married at
Leighlinbridge in 1864 to Margaret Brennan (d of Patrick) from Monemore.
Daniel went to live in Monemore (my Grandmother and her family spelt in
Moanmore) which I am told is a now derelict farmhouse somewhere near Royal
Oak on the West side of the River Barrow. Would someone living there use
Bagenalstown or Leighlinbridge church, or either? How strict were the
priests about this? Anyway my Gt granfather James was registered as being
born there in 1869. Would he be forced to be baptised in Leighlinbridge
church or could it have taken place in Bagenalstown? I know that nobody can
say for certain without doing a look up at one or both churches, but I would
like to know the possiblities.
Lastly, James married into the Casey family in Bagenalstown. Where did the
Casey family come from?
Regards
Steve Gaunt
