Dear Listers,

Have been lurking here for a while and will shortly post my interests in
Carlow for the surname HENNESSY - any spelling...

but in the meantime wanted to share what I have been doing regarding the
above topic.
When in Ireland I visit the local post office and purchase a supply of Irish
stamps suitable for enclosing in my letter to any parish priest. I then
acquire 5 Euro notes - or 10 Euro - and bring the stamps and notes home. Then
when I have a request to make I can send the currency and the stamp and make
the entire process just a little bit easier which I always hope will inspire a
reply. I've never had difficulty with the funds being lost in the mail.

So if you are going to Ireland you might consider doing this or if you know
someone who is going give them some cash and ask that they bring you back the
notes and stamps. After all, they are going to the bank to exchange their
travelers checks and they are going to the post office to mail their post cards
so it is really not an inconvenience :-)

Hope this is useful. Best wishes to all, Donna
