I believe that there was a DeRenzy in Clonegal, on the eastern Wexford/Carlow border, who was a magistrate during and after 1798. The house where he was based is just beyond the gate for Huntington Castle on the same side of the road.

In a side yard some hangings occured after the rebellion was put down. The side of the building has a stone with hole protruding from the second level and that is where the rope was strung. "Bid the Pointer" (Bid Doolin), a rebel follower who turned informer as the tide of battle turned against the rebels, is supposed to have provided some of the evidence as to who amongst the villagers had partaken in rebellion.
