Subject: Re: [IRL-CARLOW] Memorial Trancriptions for Leighlinbridge DONEONLINE - a Proof of Concept

Hi!
I am happy to report that working with Gail Nakayama in Hawaii we have been
succesful in proving the feasability of doing the transcription of memorials
or pictures working ONLINE.
Working from Hawaii, Gail trancribed the memorial images which I had set up
for her to trancribe in a picture folder accessible using a username and
password which I had supplied her. The text entry was done using an online
form.
As I stated earlier my focus is on Nolan memorials but other family names
show up in the transcriptions or in other tombstones captured in the
pictures (i.e. next to main tombstone of interest).
In addition to the Ballon and Templepeter cemeteries, transcriptions are now
available online for Leighlinbridge and Old Leighlin.
Other family names showing up in the transcriptions are as follows:
Leighlinbridge (

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Healy, Higgins, Mahon, Walsh
Old-Leighlin ( http://www.nolanfamilies.org/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=34
)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
Coady, Doyle, Esmond, Hayden, Moore, Purcell
Of interest to Nolans in America, I would like to mention that in the Old
Leighlin cemetery there is mention of a Bridget Nolan who died in Chicago
whose parents were a James and Jane Nolan.
There is also mention of Illinois and Wisconsin on another tombstone.
Bye for now, Roger
P.S. If there are people out there with a Nolan interst who would be
interested to assist with the trancription of Nolan memorials please let me
know.
