Thanks Cara for your helpful reply.

However, is it possible, from the description of the source, to learn
whether these were Catholic or Church of Ireland diocesan records? Was
'Diocese of Ossory, Leinster' in the early 1800s an entity of both churches,
or can we tell from that description which one?

>From the information available, I don't know if occupation was stated. To
check further it would be highly helpful to know which church records to
search, should they be available, which was my concluding query.

Bill.

| Well as a general rule in Parish registers I have noted that Church of
| Ireland do add what the fathers work was
| at marriage
|
| In Roman Catholic I have not noted this in the earlier parish records BUT
| this what I have encountered others may have encountered other bits n
pieces
| but if you are looking for Websters most I have encountered are Church of
| Ireland but as you do not say what or who you seek I am only taking a
guess
| tonight.
|
| A name sometimes is also a handy way of saying either way for religion
| .............now take my others halfs name and he is RC as is 99.9 of the
| family that is of those pesky Toole lads.
|
| Cheers for now
