Sharon,
As far as I know, the only person who might give you a baptismal certificate
would be the priest of the parish in which the baptism occurred. It would be
highly unusual to request one for 1834 - usually a baptismal certificate is
used to substitute for a missing or non-existent civil birth record for
someone who is living.
What many do who want to document an ancestral source is to photocopy the
entry from the baptismal register and note the parish name and film number,
if applicable. Most of the current Catholic parishes are listed on-line -
many provide an e-mail address and a phone number. You may find them by
googling. Hope this helps you.
