try to look-up all possible spelling variations - for example, for my own
LEDDY surname, I look for LIDDY, LEDDIE, LADDY, LEDEE, and so on. <>
Hope it's not too late to jump in on this conversation about names and in
particular the 'Liddy' name. I'm in the process of looking for my 4th
great-grandparents from Ireland. My only clue is from a baptismal record
that has Co. Covene beside Rose Flood's name which I'm presuming is Co.
Cavan. The Flood's and the Hughes' were given 200 acres of ME 'military
entitlement' land near Perth, Lanark Co., Ontario in 1820. Does anyone
have any suggestions for research in the 1818 - 1820 time frame for
leaving Ireland? or where to start?
Owen FLOOD b: Abt. 1779 Ireland d: Bef. 1864 Lanark Co.
- +Mary LIDDY b: Bet. 1769 - 1781 Ireland m: Abt. 1805 Ire. d: 19 Sep 1859

Daughter: Rose FLOOD b: Abt. 1807 Co. Cavan?, Ire. d: Abt. 1894 Lanark

Mary.
