I want to strongly recommend a book that will help you to understand your Irish and Ulster/Scots ancestors. While it is not specific to Co. Cavan, it should prove both interesting and informative to anyone wanting to know just why certain patterns were followed in our families. This book is out of publication, and can best be obtained through InterLibrary Loan. I have read this book 3 or 4 times and found it most enlightening, especially regarding kinship and family situations.
