At that Irish Times link I sent last week, I noticed when I typed in my
surname that some of the alternate spellings were credited to one of the
below -- these are abbreviated on the surname page (near the bottom, after
you have entered your name and clicked), and here is what they stood for.
I'm assuming these are the foremost authorities on Irish and Scottish
surnames. I certainly recognize MacLysaght and Black as being often quoted:
