Hello List(en)ers ~
I have just newly subscribed to this list having held-off until knowing
the name of an actual ancestor on the Emerald Isle. That was discovered in
yesterday's mail.
Their location and home remain unknown, but my g-g-g-grandparents were:
Joseph and Sally (__?__) McCLINTOCK, living during the latter half of the
1700s. They had reared six children, five of whom emigrated to the United
States. It is not known if Joseph continued farming in Ireland after his
wife's death there. Of the six children, only two are known: Charles,
1798-1882, made his Atlantic crossing in about 1816 with a Scot named Jane
(__?__), whom he married upon settling first in Delaware county, and finally
in Otsego County of New York state; and John J., 1805-1888, married Anne
(__?__), settling in Delaware county. Both engaged in farming there. Nothing
indicates that these brothers crossed together, the name of their ship(s),
or port's of entry.
Any information or direction regarding my clan AND the above named
ancestors would truly add meaning to finding kin living across the big pond.
Thanks, and I look forward to reading your replies.
