Subject: [IRL-CLARE-PROJECTS] Another project suggestion

Here is an ambitious suggestion: someone could contact Rosemary
ffolliott (or her estate's representative, if she is deceased) to gain
permission to extract the Clare newspaper items in her series which
is on microform, held in so few places (Dublin/Genealogical Office, Ennis/Clare Library, Chicago/Newberry Library are the ones I know of):
Index to biographical notices in newspapers of Limerick, Ennis, Clonmel and Waterford, 1758-1821
I should note that this series itself is an extraction, as Dennis Ahearn
(TIARA) has shown me the difference between the original articles and the
details preserved in the ffolliott series. However, all the good details are
extracted. I have these for two of my surnames (it's arranged by surname, not by county), and I can attest that, while many articles concern the landed gentry, there are also many instances of the "common folk" getting in trouble or doing newsworthy things.
While I am more in need of details for the 1830s/1840s than I am yet for
the first two decades of the 1800s, if permission could be secured, then
the material could be obtained from the Clare Library, as I assume they
would love to have the chance to put this on their website. Also, the
author may be more inclined to cooperate when an Irish institution is
involved.
