I am new to the list and am posting my interests. I am researching
Lieutenant-General Edward WEBBER, born Ireland abt 1761, died Wales
1845. I have a series of Edward WEBBER snippets for Cork City, going
back into the 1600s and am hoping to find if my Edward WEBBER is a
descendant of these. Information is as follows:

- from the IGI, Edward WEBBER christened Holy Trinity (Christ Church),
Cork City, 6 Oct 1664 (father Edward, mother Mary)
- 1685 Edward WEBBER mayor of Cork City
- 1720 Edward WEBBER Town Clerk of Cork

Also in "Irish Landed Gentry" (O'Hart), Edward WEBBER was on the list of
the "forty nine" officers granted forfeited estates in Ireland (1649)
and conveyed to them in 1688. From same source, Edward WEBBER purchased
an estate in Ireland in 1702-1703.

There are no definite links between my Edward and the above, except that
he was born in Ireland and that his family were wealthy enough to
purchase a commission for him in the Coldstream Guards. (And, although
WEBBER is a common name, there are very few Edward WEBBERs, even in
Devon which abounds in WEBBERs)

Have birth or christening records for Cork City survived in the 1760s?
Is Holy Trinity (Christ Church) catholic or C of E? (My Edward WEBBER
was married and buried as C of E). Were could I find more information
on the various Edwards mentioned above? Any information, or suggestions
on how I can proceed from this flimsy evidence, would be greatly
appreciated.
