Hi,
I've been having a heck of a time finding information on my surnames from County Cork Roman Catholic Parish registers that are not on LDS microfilm, & thought I'd see if this query would bear any fruit.
Being that the parish registers include spouses & sponsors which may not be of interest to a particular researcher, but would be to another, I would like to exchange what information I have gleaned from RC Parish records in the following parishes:
St. Patrick's-Skibbereen, West Carbery
Rath & the Islands (Civil Parish of Tullagh), West Carbery
Union Hall (Civil Parish of Castlehaven), West Carbery
Mallow Parish, Duhallow/Fermoy
My surnames of interest are for Skibbereen, Rath, & Union Hall:
COLLINS (O'Coileain)
BURKE (Burk, Bourke)
HOLLAND (Wholihan, Wolian, Hallahane, Houlihan, etc.)
For Mallow:
O'BRIEN (Brien, Bryan, O'Bryan, etc.)
I have varying amounts (sic. a little bit) of information on these surnames plus others who show up in the parish records that I transcribed. Would like to exchange any parish register info on these surnames with anyone who has records from any of these parishes, whether the names are principle
s or sponsors.
By the way, an excellent site for Mallow records is Dennis Ahern's Mallow Archaeological & Historical Society site at www.rootsweb.com/~irlmahs/index.htm You can search on surname or place. He also has maps & an index of people recorded in the society's records for look-up alphabetically. He
has also listed the Ahern Family records from the Mallow Parish registers at www.rootsweb.com/~irlmahs/ahpar.htm Well worth reviewing if your ancestors were from the Mallow area. Some of your surnames might be included.
Hoping to hear from someone with records of any of those parishes.
Take care,
Jim Collins
