Subject: MAHONEY of Kildorrery, Kilworth & Mitchelstown

I may have just narrowed the search for the origins of my immigrant MAHONEY
ancestor in Cork to one of the parishes that border Tipperary: Kildorrery,
Kilworth or Mitchelstown.

By most sources, Daniel-1 MAHONEY was born in Cork about 1839. Only his
obituary indicates that Tipperary was his county of origin. It seems
probable that he was from a parish that was near (but not in) Tipperary.

I have seen a similar geography twist in the family history of my Streeter
ancestry. The Streeters lived in East Grinstead, Sussex near the border of
Kent. Some American descendants recalled the association with Kent but
forgot the fact that the family actually resided in Sussex.

Daniel-1 MAHONEY was the son of Michael and Margaret (CARROLL) MAHONEY.
Does anyone have convenient access to the appropriate birth or marriage
records to confirm that this MAHONEY family was of Kildorrery, Kilworth or
Mitchelstown?

For more details, please refer to the Mahoney document on my web site:

Thanks for your help,

Perry
