List,
My gg grandmother was Julia Stokes(married to John Wm. Bresnahan). I
now believe John Bresnahan was from County Kerry, but Julia was from
Tullylease, Cork. I recently visited a website:
http://www.sci.net.au/userpages/mgrogan/cork/ire.cork.htm

and found this info on this webpage:
http://www.sci.net.au/userpages/mgrogan/cork/tullylease_tithes.htm

If this is the Parish of Tullylease, Diocese of Cloyne, Baronies of
Duhallow, Orrery & Kilmore, then what are these names....Cahernagh,
Gortnagark, and Poulavere? Forgive me for my ignorance, but I am
confused.
1828 Tithe Applotment for Tullylease
Cahernagh
#18 Anthony Stokes 81 acres

Gortnagark
#1 Marcus Stokes 89 acres

Poulavere
#1 John & Marcus Stokes 82 acres
#2 Patrick Stokes 42 acres
#3 Benjamin Stokes 42 acres

Sept 2 1828
Rev. Wm. Geen Vicar
John Sullivan Esq. Lay Impropriator

Can anyone tell me the significance of this information and how I
would go about tying it to find out more about my gg grandmother, Julia
Stokes? Her children immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800's, but I
believe she and her husband stayed in Ireland. I believe Julia's
Stoke's birthdate would have been in the 1840's according to the birth
date of her oldest child, so the Stokes listed on this webpage may have
been old enough to be her parent's age. Can anyone help me with this?
I am new at researching beyond the borders of my country. Thank you
very much.
