Hi Everyone,
My name is Margaret Smith, and I have just joined the mailing list. I live on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.

My Cork connections began when Bartholomew REAL (RYALL etc) was transported to Australia, 15 July 1824, after being sentenced in the Spring of 1820.

His Death Certificate states he was the son of Patrick REAL and Catherine BUCKLEY. Bartholomew married Mary DOHERTY in about 1817.

Bartholomew was considered capable of maintaining his family in the Colony, so Mary (list says RAIL) and son Patrick arrived in Sydney in 1826.

She was from the Parish of Freemont ( a townland in the Civil Parish of Knocktemple, Barony of Duhollow in the Poor Law Union of Kanturk. Freemont Catholic Parish is sometimes known as Milford, according to Lewis' "Topographical Dictionary of Ireland).
Mary was known to the Rev Mr Donoughoe of the Parish of Freemont, according to her emigration records.

The only other information I have is: Mary's father was John, mother Mary CONNELL.

Any assistance, ideas re tracing this family further would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Margaret Smith
