Yes, I regret to say, that you are up against a 'Brick
Wall'. Details of convicted persons were reported in
writing to the Convict Department, Dublin Castle, but the
registers covering the years 1790 to 1835 were destroyed in
the fire at the Public Record Office in the Four Courts in
1922. The NAI reports just two Mary Aherns, but for 1848.
Some hope here, there appears to exist doucuments knows as
'Prisoners Petitions and Cases (PPC), from 1778 to 1835',
but you'd have to hire one of the volunteer researchers at
the NAI to search for you, check their Website.
Such trials were reported in county newspapers. The main
Cork newspaper, maybe the only one at that time, was The
Cork Examiner, but even the great British Library's
holdings of that newspaper are extant only from August,
1841.
You could try the City of Cork Library at:
www.corkcorp.ie/facilities/facilities_library.html I tried
that to-day, but the Link to their catalogue returned an
error in their iPac system.
As the trial was held - if your info., is accurate - on
Saturday, August 14, 1830, you might want to also specify
the following week-end edition of August 21, 1830.
