Subject: Irish birth & death registrations at LDS

I have been collecting birth and now recently, death registrations from
1864-1882 Irish civil registrations. The marriages are Civil or Protestant, so
none of my Catholics show up.
However, already a couple of Cork hunters have contacted me and identified
some of their births in Dunmanway. So it makes it more exciting for me, and I
am learning about the Irish geography, names, and divisions for my next trip
to Ireland 2005. I will never equal Padraig in Canada or Pete from the
glorious hills of Berkshire MA, but I am worthy of the name McCarthy, for an
American born girl!
I plan to start renting some more LDS films of complete birth/death
registrations and would like to offer look ups for folks who know the name, place and
approximate date of birth/death for their ancestor in Dunmanway, Cork.
There is no guarantee about my strategy--- I am very good at this, and yet I
make errors, and I have found children in the Irish register that aren't in
the index, so THEY make errors, everything is a gamble. But most of you ARE
Irish, aren't you?
I plan to spend a while more doing this, and then finding a Cork website who
wants to post the data I am generating.
It is only a tool to get folks to search the LDS films for their Irish
births. I have gotten 3 of my ancestors home to their Townland and I have more I
want to accomplish. I know they are there, in the records, somewhere.
If you have some good information already, and would like a look up in the
Civil birth or death indexes, send me your name, e-mail address, and the data
you would like look ups for.
I can post to you personally, or post to the list, so that data remains in
the archives (like if you lose it).

information.
