I am new to this list. Would like to find information on my g-g-grandmother
Mary Corbett who said (in a Civil War pension document) that she was born in
County Cork December 25, 1834. Her parents probably were Michael and
Catherine. I think she immigrated in 1849-50 with her brother Michael. I'm guessing
they were from a rural part of County Cork, not Cork City, because they settled
in Vermont.

Also looking for information on my g-g-grandfather Cornelius Callahan from an
unknown place in Cork, but probably also rural because he settled in New
Hampshire and was a farmer. I think he immigrated in 1849. I found many birth
dates, but most likely ones are May 1818 or May 1820. His parents were John
Callahan and Ellen McCartney or McCarty.

This is all I've been able to find about their Irish background after
checking the following U.S. documents: naturalization papers, town histories,
censuses, Civil War pension files, death certificates, tombstones, and church
records.
