My mother's family had what was referred to as Spanish coloring or "black
Irish." (But then there are many definitions of "black Irish." I won't start
that topic up).

I understand there were no survivors from the Spanish Armada, but that there
was a good deal of activity between Spain and Ireland for many years. Some
think it is possible that through the years there might have been
intermarriage between the Spanish and the Irish when folks from Spain,
whether they were sailors or fisherhmen or something else, stepped on Irish
land. I don't know if anyone else has heard this or not.
