(O')Sullivan was and is the most common surname in Co. Cork, and
(O')Brien is in the top ten. But there are some other resources which
may (emphasis on 'may') be helpful.

The Massachusetts State Archives has indexed the names of the million
immigrants who landed in Boston between 1848-1891. Their website is
<http://www.state.ma.us/sec/arc/arcdex.htm>;.

John Grenham compiled a CD database, Grenham's Irish Surnames, of 19th
century surnames. The CD allows a search of two surnames, e.g., Sullivan
and O'Brien, by county. It then creates a frequency list of the pair of
names by Civil Parish. It is available from Eneclann at
<http://www.eneclann.ie/acatalog/enec005.html>;, and it may be available
at some genealogy libraries like New England Historic Genealogical Society.

Another set of resources, which may turn up some results, are the
Federal Census for 1850 and the Massachusetts State Census of 1855.

You mentioned the places where Patrick and Jeremiah lived and died. Does
that mean you know that information? Have you requested records?

Good luck,

My great great grandfather, Patrick Sullivan (he dropped the O when he immigrated) and his brother Jeremiah arrived in the Boston area sometime before 1854 but probably after 1850. Patrick was born around 1830 and Jeremiah in 1829. Both listed their origin as County Cork on census reports and their marriage records. Both listed their parents as Patrick O'Sullivan and Margaret O'Brien. Both settled in Massachusetts though Patrick (Jr) moved on.
