I have absolutely no knowledge of the family of Patrick Hyland or of him
either.

I know only that he was my great grandmothers father and that she was
baptized in St. Andrews on the Westland Row which I believe is in the
Ballsbridge section of Dublin. The priest who found that information told
me there were no other Hylands in the registries.

Having felt I could go no further with my search I packed up the information
I do have and now must pull out the box and go through everything to find
the two old letters that mention the Aunt who had the surname of Byrnes.

Patrick Hyland had two daughters...no sons....and I am the only one left of
their lines that has any information at all. The daughter who married a
Liddiat had two daughters...one who never married and the other one had one
daughter who never married and is long deceased.

I did obtain a death certificate for a Bridget Hyland but there is no way
for me to tell if it is my great grandmother or not. There is no
identifying information on the document and no place of burial to try to
obtain cemetery records.

No matter how hard I search, I have never found my great grandmother on an
immigration/passenger records and yet I know she not only came here as
a young girl but at some point in time went back to Dublin for a visit and
my grandfather was with her. Not only did he tell me that but the
photographs I have were taken during the visit. My grandfather was born in
the US in 1879 and married in 1903. I think he was about 10 when they went.
His youngest sibling was born in 1886 so it was after that.

I am not up against a brick wall but a steel reinforced concrete and there
seems to be no way to break through.

As soon as I find the tid bits on the Byrne family, I will post them in
hopes someone can make a connection.
