Can anyone tell me any info. about the South Dublin Union workhouse in
1869.? It had a very notorious history in the way it treated its inmates,
but I understand it eventually became a hospital. In Nov 1869 a Maria
MURPHY was admitted there and gave birth to a boy, John Lewis Murphy. I
would like to know if it was at that time a nursing home or was it still a
very harsh workhouse.
Any info. on this or Maria Murphy would be very welcome.
