HI Lorna, I noticed our post on the name Broderick. I have seen this in my
line. I have HARDIMAN (many different spellings) Hargadon, Hardyman...etc. I
visited Athlone, Ireland about 2 yrs. ago. My daughter and I then visited
the "Drum Cemeter" a few miles from Athlone. I recall seeing the name
BRODERICK on several head stones. I mostly recall the names I could actually
read??? Lennon was another and Sullivan, Joyce, etc. My Hardimans were from
Athlone, as I mentioned, but, I am almost certain they were originally from
Galway. If you look at a map it looks as though through out the years they
started from Galway, and started for Dublin. Athlone, isn't to far from
Dublin. Perhaps, I have some information on your Brodericks..I also brought
home the Drum and it's Hinter lands..and will send you some of the
Brodericks name from it.
This is one such Memorial to the Dead;
BRODERICK;
O Lord have mercy on the soul of John Broderick who died 11th December 1888,
age 63, yrs. Erected by his daughter BRIDGET BRODERICK in loving memory of
their father. That's the only one I found in here..but, the book mentions
Brodericks several times. Hope this helps.
