There is a permanent exhibition to ..Thomas Ashe..in the foyer to..Dingle
Library. The Football ground in Dingle is..Pairc an Aisaigh( Gaelic
for..ASHE PARK ). In about 1913 Thomas Ashe applied for a teaching position
in my former Junior School,a small town in County Offaly,in the midlands of
Ireland.He never got the job..the Police report described him as a dangerous
revolutionary. 30,000 people filed by his corpse in the Mater Hospital,prior
to the funeral procession. Kathleen Clarke,Tom Clarke's widow,as the first
lady Mayor of Dublin, refused to wear the Lord Mayor's Chain(of office) as
it had been presented to Dublin Corporation by King William(of Orange)in the
1690's.A special chain of office was made for her......DEC..
