Hi ya'll,

Been a while since I've posted and this weekend, while going through some of
Mother's things I rand across a set of pictures she had made when she
visited Ireland in the early 1970's (i think). Hopefully, some of these may
provide some new clues for me.

Below is my family information and here are the "new" things i found in the
pictures. Looking to contact Phyllis and Andy HORAN of BALITORE.
Apparently Phyllis was a playmate of my aunt when they lived in Ireland in
1924. Also have pictures of places which i believe to be located in MOONE -
"Timolin Lane" (a gravel country road?), scenes of the village - Bolger's (a
butcher shop?) - standing with a priest in front of an outdoor crucifix in
white inscriptions says "Church (RC) in Moon, Cty Kildare" - Phyllis and
Andy standing in front of a very large stone celtic cross - don't know where
- front view of church (RC) in Moon - and my prize - a picture of a
graveyard with a plot surrounded by black iron work that says on the back
"Grandpop Dowling's grave" I assume this would be in the graveyard of the
same RC church in the other pictures, but it is a polaroid shot from a
distance and can't really tell anything about whether or not there is a
marker and what it might say and/or how many graves in the plot. Am going
to try to get a name/address for this church and contact them, also.

Other pix are of a Mrs KELLY's house "at the entrance to Ak... across from
the church," and one of "Mrs KELLY in BALITORE."

If anyone out there lives near these areas and/or might recognize any of
these names, I would so love to hear from you.

thanks so much

Here's the "family story"

My ggfather, Dennis (? maybe Patrick) DOWLING was the village blacksmith and
apparently rather prosperous. The village being (I think) Ballytore, County
Wicklow. It seems that he married at least three times; my gfather's mother
(Theresa MURPHY) being possibly his last wife. He died in 1936, and I have
no clue as to any ancestors on this side of the family prior to these (my
ggrandparents).

Dennis (possibly Patrick)? DOWLING - County Wicklow / d. 1936 - blacksmith
by trade
(m) Theresa MURPHY - d.1926? (Psbly 3rd wife) (don't have their
birthdates)
*Richard Michael DOWLING - b. 1880? / to USA 1912? / d. 1971
Bertha (Mary?) DOWLING BARTON - emigrated to Canada ?
Nan DOWLING - emigrated to London
Jim DOWLING - emigrated to London

Patrick CASEY - railroad man? - / lived & died in County Wicklow
(m) Mary Bridget POWELL - b. 1842 Mullaghroe, IR /to USA, 1925 / d. 1927
(Newark, NJ)
*Mary Bridget CASEY - b. Baltinglass, IR 1885 / USA 1905? / d.
1928
Anna Casey HARRISON - emigrated to USA < 1905
Maggie Casey MACDONALD - emigrated to USA < 1905
Ellen Casey (Mrs. j.j. morgan) DIVINE - USA < 1897 / d.
Nov., 1897

*Richard (Dick) Michael DOWLING married (in Newark NJ, in 1912) to
Mary Bridget CASEY (born in Baltinglass, IR 1885)
5 children (all born in Newark, NJ)

Dick was a blacksmith, as was his father - Dennis ? DOWLING - before him and
fell in love with Mary CASEY when she returned from America to visit her
mother Mary Bridget POWELL CASEY. Mary refused to stay in Ireland and Dick
followed her across the sea where they married and produced 5 children.
Mary returned to Ireland for her mother and brought her to USA in 1925.
Mary Bridget was in poor health and only survived until 1927. Family
"folklore" is that Mary Bridget POWELL was from a well-respected (if not
wealthy and possibly British family) - anyway, she met and fell in love
with Patrick CASEY, a "rail-road man," lived and raised their family in
Ballytore. Supposedly, her POWELL family disowned her over this marriage.
I wonder why????
