Laois was called Queens *County*.

Queenstown (Ireland),
"formerly called the Cove of Cork. The name was changed in 1850, out of
compliment to Queen Victoria, when she visited Ireland with her husband, and
created her eldest son Earl of Dublin. "
So, it was in Cork.
I only found one name like Newnham in my Griffith's Valuations CD:
Index to Griffith's Valuation of Ireland, 1848-1864
Newnam, ElizaCounty : Cavan
Parish : Kilmore
Location : Rocks
