The names that you cite are not known to me personally but I have just
recently run across a sheep farmer in the Townland of Boggaun -- up on
O'Donnell's Rock and between Killargue and Manorhamilton -- whose Mother is
a McGOEY. That name is not very common in the area and the 1901 Census also
listed only one family. The family of James and Anne McGOEY and six children
also lived in Boggaun -- none were named Bridget. The McGOWAN name was much
more common throughout the area and there were numerous Patricks in 1901 but
none was at that time married to a Bridget.

The sheep farmer is Jimmy HARKINS and he takes more than just a passing
interest in family history. Jimmy lives in Killargue and can be contacted by
a letter to the post office there. It is likey that Bridget McGOEY was
related to his mother and he may have some news.

P.S. I am also posting this to the Drumkeerin Folk Site, where others may
also know something about this family.

> My great grandfather was named Patrick McGowan who married a Bridget
McGoey in Manorhamilton. I know that they moved to Scotland and lived in
Leith where 2 boys Jock and James were born. James was born in 1909. He
migrated to Australia around the age of 14. His father Patrick was a bit of
a drunk and died early on so Bridget remarried another man( name unknown)and
he gave Jock and James a pretty hard time. I have not been able to locate
any info about this family and wonder if you have come across these names in
your travels.
