Hi; I have found some Gallagher information that may interest some of you. My ancestors were Patrick McCauley and Bridget Rooney, probably from around Altavra. One of their daughters, Mary, married Patrick Gallagher before leaving Ireland. The following information is about Gallaghers who lived in Chicago and were from Co. Leitrim, but these are not from Patrick and Mary. I found information about over 70 Gallagher families in Chicago, most from Co. Mayo.

Gallagher, Charles, May 17, 1899, husband of Mary, nee Maher, brother of officer James Gallagher and Thomas Gallagher of Riverside, Ill. at resid. 1127 S. Hoyne, native of Killargue(Killarga), Co. Leitrim, Funeral from St. Pius Church to Calvary. (Chicago Daily News 1878-1902 funeral notices)

Gallagher, Mrs. Patrick, nee McGovern, at 4720 Wabash Ave. Jan 13 aged 70 yrs. She left her home in Killyclogher, Co. Leitrim eleven years ago to settle in Chicago. Seven sons and three daughters survive her-- James M. and Frank Gallagher tobacconists of Dublin, Ireland, Andrew Gallagher steward of the Auditorium Hotel in Chicago, John J. Gallagher with the Wheeler & Wilson Co., Patrick J. with Martin McNulty, and Thomas and Edward Gallagher, Mrs. A. McGovern, Mrs. Frank Parker, and Miss Katharine Gallagher. The funeral occured from Corpus Christi Church to Mt. Olivet-Jan 23, 1904. (The Chicago Citizen 1883-1909 obituaries)

Gallagher, Thomas of James Gallagher and Catharine Irwin, baptised Aug 15 1856 in Co. Leitrim, married Feb 9 1909 to Delia Gobert of Patrick Kane and Mary Deloughay, baptised April 15 1864 in Co. Clare. (Records of St. James parish, marriages 1908-1915)

Gallagher, James, Husband of Catharine(nee Erwin), son of Catharine and the late James Gallagher, and brother of Patrick, John, Thomas Gallagher, native of Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Funeral from 3916 State St. to St. Elizabeth's Church, thence to Mt. Olivet cemetary, June 5, 1905. (Chicago Daily News 1878-1902 funeral notices).
