Michael BUGGY, born 1784 Stradbally, immigrated to the USA with son Thomas
BUGGY, born 1820 Stradbally, between 1830 and 1847. In 1847 Thomas BUGGY
married a Julia DEGAN, born Stradbally 1826 in Middletown, Connecticut.
Michael may also have had another son, Martin BUGGY born 1823. Martin
married Mary CAVANAUGH. I would appreciate any information that might link
Michael, Thomas and Martin together. I know that Thomas is the son of
Michael but cannot prove that Martin is also his son. I cannot find any
immigration data.
Thank you.

Subject: Roll Call & Introduction (s)
I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year............and say that one of my
New Years resolutions is to try and get a bit more life out of this list -
or, maybe into it would be a better way of putting it!
My name is Jane as you can gather from the Jane Lyons on the 'from' section
in your email browser window and Laois was my home from the age of ten or
thereabouts, and I am the Admin of this Leix list.
I got into genealogy a few years ago, and while my own immediate family are
not from Laois, we moved from Longford to Laois and found we had 'cousins'
living in this new home - my fathers cousins - and more cousins living over
in Roscrea in Tipperary - 14 miles or so from the new home and a long way
from our old home. It's funny the way Ireland all connects together - the
part of Galway that my fathers family had originally hailed from is part of
the area covered by the same telephone code as our new home in Laois - but
had not been part of that covered by our old home in Longford.
Over the next ten days or so, I am going to be looking at a lot of the Laois
records held here in Dublin, and I've decided to have a roll call on this
list.
The last few rolls calls we've had brought in little response - maybe the
fact that I'm going to be looking at records might encourage you :-)
A roll call - that means that the listowner is asking people to say who
their ancestor is, where they came from (if they know a specific area) the
year that they were born or left Ireland - the names of their parents (if
known - mothers maiden name is a great help) - the names of their children.
That is basically it - whatever other information you include (if you have
any) is just extra - handy to include though 'cos it may hep someone connect
to you
In order to take part in a roll call, then all you have to do is click on
the 'Reply all' icon at the top of your browser window (if you use MSIE) and
I guess it's similar for everyone else. Once you do that, then key in your
ancestors surname in CAPITAL letters on the subject line - if you have a
townland or parish name, then put that in as well.
After that, you click on the big part of the email - the 'body' and start
typing.
The 'Introduction (s)' on my subject line - well, that's because I'm telling
you where I am from and I'd like to know where those searching their Laois
ancestry are from - but you don't have to introduce yourselves, just give
the basic information on your ancestors if you want.
Jane
