I can't find my Townalnds directory right now, it's buried here somewhere -
*but* Ive jsut taken a look at the names of the townlands I have from the
Tithes and the names of the townlands that are in Rosenallis parish in
County Laois in 1851............

I wanted to find out if Rosenallis covers more than county Laois and that
was maybe why I don't recognise the names you are listing here..........

Anyway, the following is a list of townlands in Rosenallis parish from two
sources..........the first column comes from the 1851 townland directory -
that's the same as you find on the Sean Ruad IrlAtlas web site - the second
list of names are the townland names as they were in the Tithes. Spellings
are different in a lot of instances, some places I leave listed in Tithes
when I could give a guess as to their name in 1851, but for the moment and
until I finish with all my townland name resources I don't want to start
doing that. Some of what could be the other is obvious though........

These placenames that you mention aren't found in eitther
source...........XXXX means it's not listed in that source. First name =
1851 townlands directory and second name = Tithes. Some are spelled exactly
the same, some aren't but are obviously the other.

Where have you got these other placenames from? Griffiths? and if so, the
original or the cd? Thanks
