Subject: [IRL-LIMERICK-L] LISTON, pre-1843, Ireland
Date: Fri, 2 Apr 1999 14:54:13 EST
Hello.
I have posted before, I believe. I would love to correspond with anyone who
can help with the surname LISTON in Limerick County. I have been told that
this is really the center for people with this surname in Ireland.
Specifically, I have a Thomas LISTON, who appears in Queens County, New
Brunswick by 1843 when he petitions for land in Johnston. He marries by
1849, perhaps as early as 1844-5, and has three children. Sometime between
1852 and 1856, he dies. His widow marries in Portland, St. John, New
Brunswick in 1856, and begins a new family. I am very eager to find Thomas
LISTON's origins in Ireland, where his land petition indicates he was born.
The 1851 census for the area in which he lived has been lost, except for a
few fragments, on which his name doesn't appear.
If you have LISTON connections in Limerick, Ireland, or if you know of other
areas of Ireland in which the surname LISTON is common, I'd be grateful for a
response.
Sincerely,
Dick Norwood
