aon Deireadh Fomhair, De' h-Aoine( 1 October, Friday) or in Breton, unan

Here, Digwener

Old Irish Saying: Bi'onn cosa cruaidh ag gearran iasa'chta. OR A
borrowed
horse has hard hooves.

Old Cornish Saying: Gwell yu dybry ha bos claf ages bos hep dybry vyth.
OR
Better to eat and be sick than never to eat at all.

Perhaps we should have a contest to see who get provide the most
interesting
interpretation of these sayiongs.

In 1263 Hakon the King of Norway invaded Scotland. The Scottish forces
met
Hakon and his men on the beach and commenced the Battle of the Largs.
Hakon
at the time controlled the Hebrides. Alexander was King of Scotland at
the
time. He had horses. Hakon didn't. Any predictions of the outcome?

October Myths: It is said on the coast of Brittany that certain
fisherman
receive a knock on the door in the wee hours of the night. No one seems
to
be there. But they are being called to ferry the souls of the newly dead
to
islands in the western ocean.

Or how about the Moddey Dhoo?? He is a giant black dog with fiery eyes.
His
job is to haunt the area around Peel Castle on the Isle of Mann. He
comes out
of the Otherworld to torment those who have a wicked deed on their
conscience.

Oh, and remember to start collecting bonfire fuel for the Samhain
bonfire. I
understand it helps to keep giant black dogs with fiery eyes away. Or at

least I hope so.
