ceathair de'ag Deireadh Fomhair, De'ardaoin( 14 October, Thursday), or
in
Welsh, pedwar ar ddeg Hydref, Dydd Iau
In 1322 Robert the Bruce of Scotland was victorious in Yorkshire. The
Scots
at this time were invading parts of England to keep the pressure on King
Edward to consider peace. Peace eventually was made in the late 1320's.
The treaty of Edinburgh was the result. The Scots were offered the
return of
the Stone of Scone which was at Westminster. But they didn't want it,
contending that it was a fake.
In1882 Eamon DeValera, first president of Ireland was born. The election
as
president was by the first Da'il E'ireann. In 1920 Sean Rtacy, Irish
patriot,
was killed in an ambush by the English in Dublin.
