There is one solution,to have the LDS microfilm the records and allow libraries to purchase them. I am aware Canon Law
forbids the people from viewing them, but in our Archdiocese(RC) of St Louis, some of the records prior to 1910 were
microfilmed.
A post was made that the Irish are sensative to what is in those records. Another post said, just allow professional
researchers to view them.
To those who would like the Bishop to change his mind, write him. Irish church records contain the family information for
many foreign born people. The church records are critical for those of us with Catholic tenant farming backgrounds. It is
more than a paper trail,it is our history. Paper it is,just like history and poems are written on paper.
It is time for us Irish, both in Eire and in the USA and Australia, etc to work together to make Irish genealogy easier.
