Hi Barbara,
Further to Padraig's suggestion that the townland you are searching for
could be Ludden, I can say that in the Tithe Applotment Books for the civil
parish of Ludden, Co. Limerick (taken in 1826) show a Patrick Hogan leasing
a total of 2 acres and 31 perches (Irish acres) of land in the townland of
Ludden, within Ludden civil parish.
Could this be the father of your James Hogan?
In addition, in 1851 when Griffith's Valuation was taken in Ludden civil
parish there was an Andrew Hogan leasing a house, offices and land on 4
acres, 1 rood, 21 perches (English acres) in the townland of Luddenbeg.
Also in the townland is a Patrick Hogan leasing a house, offices and land to
the extent of 8 acres and 39 perches.
If you would like further details about the Tithe Applotment records,
Griffith's valuation or anything else I have on Ludden parish just let me
know and I'll pass them on.
Cheers,
Joanne Mitchell
