No, Eleanor, I didn't mean what you said. In Cahercorney
townland and civil parish, there was only one family of
Galligan's -extended, of course - they are all mine. In
fact the name is so uncommon in Co. Limerick ( they
originated in Co. Cavan , probably came south with O'Neill
to meet the Spanish fleet in Kinsale in 1601/2, which was a
disaster, the straggling remnants of his army, built and
swelled as he came south, settled on the way back north
after the defeat in the county of Limerick, and other
counties on the back to the north)..

I have no doubt that they are just the extended families
who moved over time to different townlands. It was only
last week that I received a letter from a stranger in
England with Galligan heritage to 1800, who visited
Cahercorney a few years ago that in a letter added branches
to others of my tree.

She and her husband, by chance, had asked at my first
cousin's house directions to the old ancestral graveyard -
a mere 100 yards down the road. My 1st. cousin gave her a
copy of the family tree that I had prepared, and there you
go!. The search for documentation, either ecclesiastical,
civil , or family notes goes on.

only.Thank you).
