Dear Pat, I had several this morning, too.

But I wish to inform the List that there is an absolutely
free small programme available from
http://www.mailwasher.net/ that can be configured to show
all message details, especially if unsolicited attachments
are included. Here is a blurb from that URL:

"Introducing MailWasher, the easiest way to check and
manage your e-mails before you download them.

MailWasher is a powerful email checker with effective spam
elimination. Discover the safe way to stop unwanted viruses
and e-mails before they get to your computer.

No gimmicks here, it is so easy to set up and use that
you'll be managing your email like a pro in seconds. It can
even be used as an effective privacy tool.

I think you will find this to be the easiest, most
effective way to manage your incoming e-mails. You will be
amazed at how quickly you will like using MailWasher."

So, in addition to one's antivirus programme, this email
control type programme allows one to preview incoming mail
at the Server before downloading to one's computer. A
great free programme indeed. Unfortunately the "Bounce"
features doesn't work, as one's ISP is the only party
allowed to 'bounce' mail, on this feature here is the
response I got from the author:

" Hi, The 553 error is because your mail server requires
POP authentication before it can send message/bounces. This
is something we are working on getting added at the moment
and it should be available in the next 2 months.
After you have marked the messages for bounce/delete then
press the "Check Mail" button again before you press the
"Process Mail" button and see if this helps. Failing this
then go to the account properties in Mailwasher and remove
the SMTP server setting. This will stop Mailwasher
from trying to bounce and that will stop you getting the
error message.

Thanks Mike.

There is one problem that I have with it, and that is the
'Bounce' feature. Every time I try to bounce mail, I
receive this message:

to send mail as < (SMTP server error
553)"
